Daddy started his cholesterol medication last Friday. Our family doctor has been monitoring his cholesterol levels; two lab tests were done within the past four months. Both lab test results came out the same, the cholesterol levels were too high; 250 and 260. Daddy needs to take one tablet of Simvastatin 40mg per day to lower it. There are many side effects including muscle pain, tiredness, dark red urine, swelling, itching, etc. If you don't take the medication, high cholesterol levels will increase the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. We hope Daddy will continue to exercise, watch his diet and eventually quit the medication once his cholesterol is back to normal. As we age, our body does not function like it used to and we need to take good care of it.
Simvastatin is a good medicine foe high cholesterol.
