Last night, the annual Santa Ana winds blew into Southern California. But this year it was much more powerful than normal, shocking my town and towns surrounding our area. People reported the wind sounding like a hurricane in the night, and it knocked over many large trees and damaged buildings. It also created problems with the power, forcing our school district to close for the day because of power outages. We recieved an unexpected call and text message in the morning telling us that we had no school. It was such a pleasant surprise to stay home for the day and relax instead of being stressed about school work. It also gave me extra time to study my harder subjects in school. The wind is expected to be just as strong tonight, and I'm curious to see if I will go to school tomorrow. I hope I will, because although the break is nice, I know my education is still more important!
