On Monday, Daddy went to The Consulate General of The People's Republic of China in Los Angeles to apply for a visa. The office is located 5 minutes away from Daddy's office. The Consulate office was filled with people when he arrived at 11:00 a.m. Daddy received serving No. 280 while the serving was only at No. 200. He had to wait for more than 2 hours. Luckily, it only took him less than 5 minutes to complete the visa application. Today, he picked up our passports and the Chinese Visas. However, I think we were ripped off; we had a fee of $560.00 for our family of four. We had applied for a single entry 3 months visa. The American fee is $140 whereas citizens of other countries only have a fee of $30. Even though our visas were upgraded to the multiple entries for 12 months with the same price, it is still too expensive because we are not planning to make a second trip to China within the 12 months. I realized that it is pricey to travel with an American passport :( posted by mom
